End of Christian West?
We know now that native Europeans are in the doldrums when it comes to replacing it’s population. There will soon be more elderly people than children in several of the EU countries. There is also the fear that the immigrants in these countries will be responsible for sustaining the population. This translates into many European countries becoming Muslim nations simply because many of them have a huge Muslim population that still retains the fertility rates of their native countries. Hence the failure of the Turks in creating a Muslim Europe will be completed by the Arab immigrants, 500 or so years later.
This is not paranoid thinking, as pointed out by Phillip Longman of the New America Foundation. His analysis that people who ascribe to a conservative view of the world, i.e., conservative Christians, Jews and Muslims, have higher birth rates than their liberal counterparts. Today in most EU countries, there are more liberal than conservative Christians and Jews, hence the birthrate of the Judeo-Christian people is paltry compared to that of their Muslim countrymen.
However, all is not lost either. Longman states that there is a cycle to the fall and rise of birthrates among the population. After falling for some time there will be a backlash of sorts and people will once again begin to have more children. This even applies to the currently labeled liberal segments of Judeo-Christian society. They will become “conservative” and change their viewpoint.
However, the more pressing question is will the Judeo-Christian segment wake up in time to prevent being overwhelmed by the Muslims? We have to pray that God doesn’t allow this to happen and that fellow Christians take to heart God’s command to go forth and multiply. There are many couples who have braved derisive remarks and stares from the liberals and have large families as God intended.
Children are not just God’s gift to couples, but children are also a couple’s gift to God (as remarked by a child).
