New Disease Eradication Regimen - Eliminte The Patient

This is the consequence of a recent recommendation from the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada. The SOGC now advices all expectant mothers to undergo a non-invasive screening to determine if they’re susceptible to fetal abnormalities, especially Down’s Syndrome.
Prenatal diagnostic tools are for the good if it’s to determine if a child suffers from diseases than can be treated either in the womb or after birth. However, they become tools of evil when the intention is to eliminate the disease by eliminating the diseased. This is akin to the proverbial, “throwing the baby out with the bath water”.

The danger emerging with prenatal diagnostic discoveries is that they will invariably be used predominantly to abort a child who the diagnosis detects has a genetic abnormality. These tests are not 100% accurate. Most of us have heard of parents who were informed erroneously that a child in the womb had Down’s Syndrome and years after birth there are no symptoms.

Tools are never bad or good in themselves, but it’s human intentions that decide if they are. As Jesus himself said, it’s what comes out of a person that makes the person (and the tool) good or bad.

I work with the disabled and elderly. To decide when and who to ‘kill’ for that is the real activity here going on, one has to make a serious God-like decision. I prefer letting people live and loving them during the time they are here….it is just easier. The conscience is clear and we become more compassionate in the process.

As I work, the thought frequently plays on my mind: they are here for me, and not the other way around. There is something I must discover from this person to make me a better person, more loving, more patient, etc…..what is it? My thought and my prayer. Pray for us caregivers looking after other people’s family member.
