Christmas: Joy to the World

Christmas to some
May seem like an inconvenience
Certainly it is a drag
When many merely
Of us make merchandise
And milk the holiday season
To jack up the price
Of goods we must buy
To show ourselves nice
Yet playing along
Singing a few songs
Jingle bells and ding dong
Decking the halls with holly
While forgetting the reason
For this beloved season
This my friend is great folly
Decorating your home
Buying a tree well grown
Waiting in lines with a moan
Biting back with an irritating tone
Concerning yourself
With what you don’t own
These pursuits and encumbrances
Is not why the Christmas star shown
Bright about the dark night sky
Kings and shepherds drawing nigh
To behold the blessed Savior
With hearts tender and humble
Adoring the Lord and thankful
Though He was but a baby
Christ radiated God’s glory
Ready to rewrite mankind’s story
The child of the Holy Spirit
All the angelic hosts could feel it
The Presence of the Prince of peace
He who came to bring divine release
He who left heaven to come to earth
To give to humanity the new birth
Carrying the message of life
To powerfully remove stress and strife
To touch and transform whosoever will
To physically heal those who are ill
To deliver and free those who are bound
To deeply touch hearts with a love that abounds
To remove from sad faces hideous frowns
To revive nations, cities, and towns
Christ the King of kings
Christ the Lord of lords
Immanuel, God with us
Wonderful, beloved Jesus
It is He who came to save us
Therefore repent of your sins
And today invite Christ in
Welcome Jesus Christ
To enter your heart
By His gentle Holy Spirit
Experience joy full of glory
This Christmas holiday
Don’t let pride or merchandising
Get in the way
Humble yourself and bow
Before Christ today.
To experience the joy of Christmas pray outloud saying: “Dear Jesus, thank you for dying for me on the cross. Please forgive me of my sins and come live within by the power of your blessed Holy Spirit that raised You from the dead. Touch and transform my life!”
