One Body of Christ in Our Lifetime?
I used to disregard as wishful thinking, the reunification of the schismatic church’s with the Catholic Church. I must confess that I’ll probably be humbled by the Holy Spirit if He has it His way, soon. I used to think that human pride will make the unity Jesus prayed for an impossible dream. I underestimated the power of the All Powerful.
When I was young and we used to pray the Rosary, my younger sister would pray that Russia would be converted as Our Lady of Fatima had requested. I would always tease her that this was a child’s fantasy. She still reminds me of my little faith in our Lady’s and Son’s prower. After such experiences, it’s easier to believe whatever Jesus and Mary wish for.
Reports have leaked out that authorities from both the Catholic and Anglican congregations have some sort of agreement ironed out to reunite. It’s odd that the Anglican church leaders now see the potential benefits of having one leader for Christianity - this has been practiced and appreciated in the business world for centuries. Protestants generally disagree that Jesus bestowed supremacy on St. Peter and they fail to understand why. However they definitely would disagree with the idea of having a sole CEO in a company. In fact companies with co-CEOs are very rare and seldom successful.
We can only pray that Unity becomes real during our lifetime and all worries and fears in the hearts of the faithful of both congregations melt away with the help of the Holy Spirit.
