Stem cells in amniotic fluid
Researchers at Wake Forest University and Harvard University have discovered stem cells derived from embryos in human mothers. The extracted cells have been grown into brain, liver and bone cell types.
The Harvard researcher, Dr. George Daley is hopeful that one day mothers may be able to freeze these amniotic stem cells to be used in future for tissue replacement in a sick child thereby eliminating immune rejection. However, Dr. Daley insists that research into embronic stem cells is essential as he believes that such cells are more versatile.
It such expressed hope (or false hopes) of researchers that drive Congress to attempt to push through once again a Bill to ensure that US taxpayers money is spent on harvesting human beings for stem cells. Of course the bill doesn’t use the words “human beings” but embryos that are aborted, cloned or discarded.
How wonderful if there’s a researcher somewhere out there who will pick up on this and successfully develop these amniotic cells into tissues that can be used. We pray that Our Lady of Guadalupe will make this a reality and end the buy-in from the public for this false promise of embryonic stem cell research. Reminds me of a World Wildlife Fund advertisement tagline - When the buying stops, so will the killing.
