Jesus’ Bones Discovered?
Where else would it be appropriate to disclose such a discovery but on Discovery Channel. I’m not going to discourage you from catching this “documentary”. In fact I would advice you to watch it and prepare yourself thoroughly first.
Firstly, we must be aware that James Cameron is not an achaeologist. Making a fictitious romantic movie set on a real ship of the past, doesn’t qualify one as an archaeologist. This man is merely using his talents and his popularity to attempt to debunk Christian faith. His band of so called experts are not even considered peers by the real archaeologists.
Secondly, the real archaeologists discredit Cameron’s theory. These archaeologists are from secular institutions, including Lawrence Steigler of Harvard and Amos Kloner of Jesrusalem.
Thirdly, we must be also aware that these kinds of lies are not new. In fact the first documented such lie was on the First Easter itself. Mt.28:13-15 records the deception carried out by the Jewish priests. We must also remember that the Apostles themselves were not expecting Jesus to live again (Lk.24:9-11), so it’s not surprising that millions of people throughout the ages can easily believe in the Resurrection. It takes faith.
Lastly, arm yourself with the correct rebuttals against the Discovery Channel’s pathetic attempt at revealing the “truth” by visiting Ben Witherington’s blog where he has listed 10 points against Cameron’s proposal.
Fear not, this story will die just as the Da Vinci Code has and you can be certain it will resurrect as well some time in the future in some other form. This has been going on for 2000 years but the Church has grown consistently and stronger compared to Her opponents.
