How to increase priestly vocations

Tag:, ,

In the early 1990s, Cincinnati had very few ordinations to the priesthood. Now they have between 4 and 8 priestly ordinations every year! Here are some tips on how to create an increase in priestly vocations, that are excerpted from an interview by Rich Leonardi with Fr. Kyle Schnippel, the Director of Vocations:

  • have a large family
  • help interested men to discern their vocation
  • proclaim the Truth in it’s beauty
  • tell the people that there is a need for priests
  • pray for vocations
  • support and encourage your priests
  • do not let lay people take over certain important functions that should be reserved for priests
  • priests must exercise fidelity to liturgy.

Here is a beautiful video that will help in vocation development - Fishers of Men. Get one and watch it with your parish priest too.

  1. Vocations are reviving among Christians! « SCRIPTORIUM Says:

[…] The Christian blog Vox Nova has reported (here) that vocations to the priesthood are increasing in certain dioceses in the United States. It specifically mentioned Los Angeles, San Bernadino, San Francisco, St. Louis, Galveston-Houston, Chicago, Norwich, New York, Boston (and that despite its recently checquered history), and Madison. Roman Catholic Info says the same thing about Cincinnati; and Whispers in the Loggia adds Louisville (which was also given 29 permanent deacons), Sapinaw, and Paterson. These dioceses are part of a trend that seems to be international, with vocations also increasing in Davao (Philippines), South Korea, the rest of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. […]
