The Secret - Compatible with Christian Teaching? #3
The Secret teaches that our Mind is an extremely powerful object. Merely by forming mental images in our mind we can manifest objects physically.
Sounds like new age thinking? On the contrary it’s more aligned to the Bible - the Old Testament specifically. In Genesis, God says that He made humankind in His image. Thus we have His power of creation or co-creation.
Everything that we use today existed as a picture in the inventors’ minds before it came to fruition.
Even how we behave to one another has its origins in our mind. We decide who we love and who we hate or dislike. We are far superior to mere animals who can’t decide such things as they lack the capacity to reason.
Our life currently is the result of our past thoughts. We are not simply victims of circumstances. Very often we put ourselves in the situations that produce the results we experience. Therefore we can extricate ourselves from our present conditions by merely thinking of a better state of life.
What is the secret behind our thoughts? When we think of positive things including a better life, our entire body will be atuned to the better life and we begin to do things that will take us to the new position that we have desired.
Similarly, if we hate someone and we change out thinking towards that person to a positive mode, our way of behaving to that person also takes on a new dimension.
That is the secret behind the power of our mind. Mind your mind and everything will fall in place the way you want it. We determine our life and that’s why on Judgment Day we can’t give the excuse to God that the devil made me do it. God will hold us accountable for our actions.
