The Secret - Compatible with Christian Teaching? #2
What is The Secret? The Secret is the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction is also known as the Law of Love.
Christianity is all about love. The two greatest Commandments that Jesus gave us were to love God and to love our fellow human beings.
The Secret tells us to not think negatively about others, lest the negative thoughts we have for others befall us instead. Didn’t Jesus tell us to love our enemies as well? If we love our enemies can we think negatively or ill of them? It’s not possible.
The Secret also teaches that we should not focus on people’s negative traits but on their goodness. Didn’t Jesus tell us to first take the log out of our eyes before we tell others about the speck in theirs?
The Secret expounds that when we love others and therefore have positive things in our minds all of the time (or at least most of the time) we will attract good things into our lives. If we have bad thoughts most of the time, we will attract bad things to ourselves.
It’s no secret that this is the reason Jesus taught us to be do good and have good thoughts in all that we do and in all relationships. God wants us to have all the goodness He has created.
The question is do we really want to? If so we have to always apply the Law of Love in our lives.
Once again I believe that the Secret is compatible with Christian treachings.
