Human Ape!
Over the last few weeks we have noticed a disturbing news item from Austria where a group of activitists are seeking the local court to declare a chimpanzee a human being. Read here for more.
Now the last time I checked a dictionary, a human being is defined as a member of any of the races of homo sapiens. The same dictionary (Collins) defines homo sapiens as the specific name of modern man(kind). The dictatorship of relativism that Popes JPII and Benedict XVI have alluded to in the past is rearing it’s ugly head once again. The mere fact that the court in Vienna is willing to hear the case should be cause for alarm for all thinking humans.
Let’s suppose the court indeed grants the chimp (his name is Hiasl) the rights of a human, this is where I foresee we shall travel:
- other animals will soon join our ranks as humans
- real humans will be allowed to marry or cohabit with apes or any other animals (for those who have bestial tendencies)
- genetic research on human and animal genes will be permitted (as both are now considered the same species). This will include interspecies fertility research and a whole load of related abominations.
- apes will be allowed to rent their wombs and become surrogate mothers
- the converse of euthanasia will prevail where animal rights activists will sue to ensure that excessive and inappropriate life prolonging medical care is given to apes or any other “human animals” even when they are dying.
Jesus Christ said that we need to be childlike to enter the kingdom of heaven. If we notice children, they are very clear about definitions (well sometimes to the extreme). They know exactly what a lion is and when adults try to say a lion is a type of cat, they will look at us puzzled and will correct us and even refuse to accept our definitions.
I wonder if this is what Jesus meant too, that we shouldn’t decipher things as we wish but according to the absolutes that have been implanted in our consciences and the laws of God taught by His Holy Catholic Church.
